Farmers Market Bike Challenge {MiBM}
The most wonderful time of the year is upon us - May is Bike Month in Sacramento!
May Is Bike Month (MiBM) has been a Sacramento regional fixture since 2004, encouraging people to replace car trips with bike trips, providing resources for new and experienced cyclists, and inspiring people of all ages to ride a bike.
This year, MiBM activities will be coordinated by the Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates (SABA). SABA’s deep history of community engagement and advocacy will help support the skills and needs for residents to encourage a lifelong habit and love of cycling. You can register for May is Bike Month on the Love to Ride platform, where you can log miles, discover local events, access tips, resources, and videos for new, occasional, and experienced riders, and win prizes. Register early for a chance to win the iconic MiBM socks.
Last year, I was inspired to start the #LibraryBikeChallenge for May is Bike Month – riding my bicycle to each of Sacramento’s 27 public libraries. Sacramento is the Farm to Fork Capital of America, so this year, I’m challenging myself to ride my bike to every Certified Farmers Market in Sacramento County – the #FarmersMarketBikeChallenge!
The passion for bike riding and commuting extends to showing off the beautiful city of Sacramento (by bicycle) to residents and visitors, and empowering people to gain the confidence to ride a bike. If it’s been a while since you’ve ridden your bike, or, if you’ve always wanted to discover the local trails and bike paths, we offer guided commutes, neighborhood exploration rides, Bike with Confidence sessions, and private, custom bike tours of Sacramento. A Best of the City in 2020 nominee, we recognize that bicycles are an incredible form of transportation, produce zero emissions, provide a low-impact way to be physically active, and have mental health and wellness benefits.
It should come as no surprise that May is our favorite month of the year. Sign up today and get ready to bike!
